Ganguram's has been a cherished name among lovers of authentic Bengali sweets for over a century. From a small sweetmeat shop in the late 19th century to a renowned sweet shop heritage brand, Ganguram's has been synonymous with traditional sweets. The journey of Ganguram's began in 1885 when a small sweetmeat shop was situated on a plot of land owned by Raja Kamala Prasad Mukherjee. The government planned to build a road, which led to the eviction of the sweetmeat shop. The Raja was so impressed by the commitment and service of the sweetmaker that he donated a plot of land near Maniktola in North Kolkata. On this land, theirs forefathers opened a small sweetmeat shop, which today has become a renowned traditional sweet shop brand in Kolkata.
The Visionary Founder – Ganguram Chaurasia
The story of Ganguram's began with Ganguram Chaurasia, who migrated to Kolkata from a small village in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. He was a Halwai by profession and was exceptionally good at making mouthwatering traditional sweets.
He worked in a sweetmeat shop owned by Raja Kamala Prasad Mukherjee and was assigned the task of supplying sweets to Rajbari. He worked hard to deliver traditional sweets and with his dedication of hard work, he gained recognition for his skills. With time, his sweets became popular among the masses, laying the foundation of a brand that would symbolize heritage, authenticity, and traditional Bengali sweets.

Innovation in Tradition – Anand Chaurasia
The next chapter of the story of Ganguram's was written by Anand Chaurasia. Mr. Chaurasia, after completing his education in dairy technology in Australia, launched a revolutionary business concept in the Indian sweet shop industry.

Mr. Chaurasia has pioneered the concept of the franchise model of sweet shops, transforming Ganguram’s from a single heritage sweet shop into a scalable brand. At a time when franchise models existed mainly in management books, he had the vision and took up the courage to bring up the concept to life. The innovation has helped the brand Ganguram's to achieve the status of a traditional Bengali sweet shop franchise in Kolkata. With this, more and more people are now able to enjoy the legendary sweets of Ganguram's while maintaining the brand’s traditional standards.
A New Generation of Entrepreneurship – Apurv Chaurasia
The legacy is now carried forward by Apurv Chaurasia, who is the young new face of the Ganguram's brand. Mr. Chaurasia has completed his education in management and finance at the Institute of Management Technology, Nagpur, he has gained practical experience of the industry by working with Amul to understand the food industry from its core.
Under the guidance of Mr. Chaurasia, the brand is continuing to innovate while keeping the traditional values intact. He has also ventured multiple food and beverage industry. The most notable achievement of Mr. Chaurasia is the launch of the bakery brand CakeRMon by Ganguram's under his directorship, which has quickly gained popularity and success.

Today, Ganguram’s stands as not just a sweet shop but a strong symbol of heritage and tradition when it comes to Bengali sweets. From classic delicacies crafted with age-old recipes to modern innovations in the dessert industry, the brand continues to delight generations of customers.
